This painting makes me laugh. I chuckled my way through painting it. Now, I smile every time I see how I’ve captured my own attitude in that stance. And I want more of my paintings to inspire a giggle.
Another layer: It’s entered in the special theme category, “Split Second,” in the El Cerrito Art Association Annual Show this weekend. Get it: Split Second, the Split’s Second. Don’t know if the judges will get it either. But I was amused. (Oct. 2 Update: Split’s Second got a second-place ribbon in the theme category. Maybe that red ribbon on the split was a too-strong subliminal message!)
