Christmas gift paintings this year were imagined old fruit crate labels based on our family’s prune farm heritage.
The Orange Truck Brand label commemorates our orchard truck, which was a cut-down 1937 Dodge van that had originally been a delivery vehicle for Galleon Laundry in San Francisco.
The Taeuffer Family Brand label commemorates my father’s least-favorite farming chore: pickin’ them prunes.
I hope my sisters like their gift paintings.
I’ve been taking an eCourse on “Abstracting the Figure” with the amazing
Melinda Cootsona. Fresh, new ways to approach figurative paintings. Trying to broaden my horizons. Here are some results (so far!)
Hannah and Roux (using pattern)
George With Cat (starting with abstract underpainting)
Skaters (flattening the image)
At the Bar (cropped image, using texture)
Two more paintings of people on my favorite Maui beach.
